Ibstock Place School Refectory
Feltham were proud to deliver the new Refectory building at Ibstock Place School, a landmark project that has transformed the school’s dining and events facilities. Working in close collaboration with award-winning architects Maccreanor Lavington and structural engineers Price & Myers, we successfully brought to life a scheme that has since gained national recognition for its design and execution.
The project combined the careful demolition of outdated structures with the construction of a striking new building directly linked to the main school house. Internally, Feltham completed a full renovation to create a state-of-the-art commercial kitchen, spacious dining halls, and a modern sixth form centre with ancillary rooms and washing facilities. Externally, we carried out sensitive remodelling to integrate the new building into the wider school campus.
By day, the Refectory provides staff and pupils with a high-quality, enjoyable dining environment. By evening, it seamlessly adapts into a multi-purpose space, capable of hosting concerts, assemblies, and key events that are essential to the school’s calendar.
Our work, combined with the creative vision of the design team, has been recognised with multiple prestigious industry awards, including:
-
RIBA National Award (2022)
-
RIBA London Award (2022)
-
AJ Awards (2021)
-
New London Architecture Award (2021)
-
Structural Timber Awards (2021)
This project stands as a showcase of Feltham’s expertise in delivering complex, high-quality educational buildings — combining functionality, flexibility, and architectural excellence.
